Welcome to Media: The Vision

Note- This is a short essay I wrote for a media event

What is media?

Imagine this: a field filled with horses running, led by Kazakh men. The sound of Dombra playing in the distance, and an eagle flying overhead. All feel united and free under the same sky. Now let’s teleport to the Netherlands, here we have a 25-year-old, Boyan Slat, who with his team are solving one of the world’s greatest conflicts- cleaning up the oceans from plastic with his new inventions. Lastly, let’s jump over to New York where runners are carrying out a difficult task. By working together, they begin their mission in running the Peace Run (a multi-day race dedicated to peace), passing a torch to people they encounter as a sign of harmony, and running multiple courses around the whole world. Why did I just take you on this quick trip? Because this is where media comes in.

I believe media can be used like fire to warm, give energy, inspire, and bring joy to others. All those extraordinary events in the world are made known because of media. Therefore, I am interested in video making and am looking forward to the event in Nevada. By attending the event I hope to increase my understanding of the media industry, software, and high technology equipment. It will help me make connections with experienced people who can give me advice on how to improve my skills in filming and storytelling.

My interests in video/photography developed from videographers who travel, advertise, and raise awareness on certain issues. I began creating my own projects with my friends such as:  short stories, music videos, and photo-shoots. With my work, I plan to give people inspiration to try new activities, challenge themselves, and transcend their own capabilities.

Hence, this is my dream: to write new stories that will unite all cultures. I am part of a new generation that is here to shine more light on the consciousness of people through motivating footage. And the increased awareness of the movements, trends, and events taking place around the world, will influence people to travel and make a change. It is through this meetup, being in the field with professionals - I will be bringing my vision one step closer.
